A Message From Elizabeth Zuroweste
Growing up as a child, I was fortunate to have parents, mentors, and coaches who encouraged me to believe in myself, work hard, and set goals--the sky is the limit! That support system picked me up when I was down and pushed me when life got hard. When I struggled to pass math in high school, my dad spent hours patiently helping me and when he couldn't a tutor did. Thanks to my parents encouragement I made the varsity soccer team as a freshman, but soon tore the major ligaments (ACLs) in both my knees; I was sidelined for the year and forced to undergo excruciating reconstructive surgery. It was a tough year physically and mentally, but my coaches and parents encouraged me to not give up. Ultimately, I became a stronger player and better teammate from that experience. And, when I was unsure whether law school was the right path for me, my parents steadfastly encouraged me to continue pressing on until I became a lawyer. Thanks to their mentorship I have had the honor of helping to bring safety and peace to victims and families in Pinellas County for the last 15 years.
I share these experiences because those who guided me as a child now inspire me to help others. And there is nothing more rewarding than to know you helped change the life of a child. So, I am beyond thrilled to go "Over the Edge" to help Big Brothers Big Sisters have the means to mentor as many children as possible.
BUT I NEED YOUR HELP! It costs more than $1,500 to support a mentorship between a Big and a Little. Let's consider that to be the low bar. Let's raise the bar, raise more money than we think possible, and go over the edge for these kids!!!
